Setup guidance and troubleshooting for PrivyTranslate.
Getting started
- Choose a provider in Settings: Built-in Local, Ollama, LM Studio, an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or Chrome Translator for the browser extension.
- Choose a target language and enter or share the text you want to translate.
- Use local history to revisit, copy, or remove recent translations.
Provider connection issues
- Built-in Local: try this option first to confirm that the translation interface is working.
- Ollama or LM Studio: confirm the server is running, the configured address is reachable, and the selected model is available.
- Mobile devices: ensure the device and local server can reach one another on the same network.
- Chrome extension: use Overlay, Replace, or Side-by-Side mode to translate web pages. Chrome Translator requires a compatible Chrome build with the Translator API available.
- OpenAI-compatible: verify the endpoint URL, credentials, and model name with your provider.
